Abstract

Recognizing the predisposing affecting the exacerbation or jaundice can be effective in reducing the severity and control of this disease, as well as controlling the initial problem. One of these factors is UTI, which is a common and serious problem in neonates, so that if it is timely diagnosed and decisively treated and necessary follow-up is done for the underlying cause, its complications can be mitigated. It can affect the entire life of a human. This descriptive analytical study was conducted on infants less than eight weeks old who were hospitalized due to jaundice in the neonatal ward of Amiralmomenin Ali (AS) Hospital in Zabol. This study was performed on 100 infants less than eight weeks old with icterus in the neonatal ward of Amiralmomenin Hospital (AS) in Zabol city in 2014.Out of 100 neonates examined in the present study, the urine culture of 27 subjects (27) was positive and that of 73 subjects (73) was negative. In other words, 27 cases of 49 studies cases has positive urine culture and total incidence of urinary tract infections in neonates was 27. Urinalysis testing is not a sensitive test for the diagnosis of urinary tract infections in newborns. If you only want to request urine culture based on the results of a urine test, it will make a mistake in diagnosis. The rate of urinary tract infection in newborns with prolonged jaundice is more prevalent in comparison with healthy infants. On the other hand, the prevalence of UTI in boys, preterm infants, cesarean section, and low weight infants fed with milk powder is higher in comparison with girls, term infantds, normal delivery infants, high birth weight infants, and those feeding on breast milk. © 2018, Advanced Scientific Research.
