Abstract

Introduction: Regarding critical role of the human element in health information technology (HIT) implementation, evaluation of the factors that determine the acceptance of HIT seems necessary. Material and methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2016. One hundred thirty staff working at 12 nursing home facilities were selected using a convenient sampling method. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS software using descriptive and inferential statistics and the Spearman's rho tests. Results: Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, image and computer skill had significant positive impact on behavioral intention. Computer skill, image, and subjective norm had the highest significant positive impact, respectively, on the perceived ease of use. Subjective norm and perceived ease of use also had positive impact on perceived usefulness. Conclusion: The planners and managers should consider factors affecting the acceptance of HIT by caregivers based on the importance of these factors. Computer skill enhancement, the use of innovative ideas, respect for the opinions of others may enhance the perceived ease of use of information technology.
